What I Wore in Cartagena, Colombia
Colombia is hot, hot, hot. Especially if you go in July like me. Pack light!!!
But wow is it the most colorful city I have been to thus far. So I packed LOTS of color and thin clothing lol. I would say the dress code is pretty casual and I dressed up a lot more than others. Being from Chicago, I don’t wear color a lot and I wanted to go all out with the theme.
Just know, that it’s going to be hot so pack accordingly.
So let’s get into everything I wore in Cartagena, Colombia!
A NIGHT OUT
See? We’re leaning into the color!
I loved both of these outfits so much. My biggest tip when traveling is to rent your closet so you don’t drop hundreds of dollars on a shopping trip of clothes you’ll only wear once. If you want $30 off your first time renting at Nuuly, use my discount code here!
I did wear heels but the streets are cobblestone so be careful. That’s why I just brought kitten heels because they are easy to walk in but still feel dressy.

TO THE BEACH CLUB
If you’re going to Cartagena, you’re probably considering the beach club. It’s a definite recommendation of mine!
I know I’m wearing pants here but I do not recommend. To get to the beach club, you’re going to have to walk through the ocean off the dingy. So your pants are going to get wet! Opt for a dress.
I just put a few coverups I love vs. what I actually wore.

WANDERING AROUND GETSAMANI
Getsemani is SO colorful! Every single street is a photo opportunity.
I wore this romper that was super breathable and easy to walk around in. Plus I thought the white stood out amongst all the colors.
I bought this necklace from a shop there. And since my natural hair was fighting for its life in the humidity, I wore a cute little headscarf to tame it down a bit.

SHOPPING IN OLD TOWN
I loved this white skirt. It was so easy to just throw on and pair with anything. Highly recommend!
Then I also wore a shorts and tank linen set. I got this at Marshall’s — it’s my go-to for last-minute clothing purchases for trips. But I have linked some similar options!

When packing for Colombia, there are a few guidelines I would follow:
embrace the color!
pack lightweight clothing
wear comfortable shoes because you will be walking!!
Cartagena is so beautiful and don’t be afraid to dress up even if other people aren’t. There’s also a ton of really good shopping there if you feel like you want to buy clothes there. It’s significantly cheaper than shopping in the U.S.
